Editing. Thursday 4th November

Today we all decided to start working on Declan's editing of his video but he seemed not to be bothered so Adam decided to do his instead.

We started by cutting his outtakes but he knew what to do as he took media for GCSE so we just sat and watched him as he edited his work quite quickly as he is quite good at it.

Editing. Tuesday 3rd November

As I didn't take media in GCSE I had to get help on how to edit my video from my teacher. This took all lesson but it did prove worthy to me.

I learnt how to cut bits from the video, how to edit the sound, how to fade scenes and how to change the volume.

We will start proper editing on Thursday.

Production. Monday 2nd November

Today we completed Sam's video.

We seem to be getting really fast at doing the videos now as we are getting used to producing them. We now know a lot about setting up and actually filming so this will help us with our main task.

We will now have to move on to editing our videos to move onto the main task. We were a little late finishing our videos so we will have to hurry editing them. This will prove a hard task as we have a lot of editng to do.

Editing. Friday 30th October

Production. Friday 23rd October

Today we completed Adam's video and moved onto Sam's video.

We chose to do this video in the room that we filmed mine and Declan's video. So this meant there was a lot of re-arranging furniture again.

We got to work as quick as possible though, finishing the first scene before packing up.

Production Tuesday 20th October

Today we completed my video of the doctor's appointment. A few outtakes but went well most of the time.

We also decided that we were going to do Adam's production next and chose a room to do it in and set up the equipment in there, except the camera in which we left in the locker in the teacher's room.

Diary. Wednesday 14th October

Today we learnt the hard way that leaving the camera in the room that we left it in was a bad idea as it could get stolen.
The teacher shouted at us for a good ten minutes.

Production. Monday 12th October

Today we started production on my video.

We had to move the furniture around in the room and change some of the background which cost us a lot of time during our lessons. So we set the camera up and put it on charge. We did one scene which was the first scene where Sam opens the door and sits down (which a necessary part in the production).

We then left the camera on charge and locked the door for the next day.

Production. Friday 9th September

Today we completed Declan's video production.
During his production we had to change some of the scenes as we found some equipment to add to his video. These items were a lamp and a recorder.

We will start production on my video next Monday.

Diary. Tuesday 7th October

I havn't had the internet at hom for a while for personel reasons so this is the first post in about two weeks.
Basically over the last two weeks we have started production on Declan's video in a room chosen by one of our teachers. We have had many outtakes as sam could'nt stop laughing so we have had to re-do many scenes. We have nearly completed his video and will be moving onto my one next.

We have chosen to do my production in the same room but we we will have to move the furniture around and some of the stuff in the background to make sure that the set looks different.

Diary. Tuesday 15th September

Today we completed Sam's stporyboard for him and then we got some advice from one of our teachers on what we can do for our videos and where we can film it.

Diary. Monday 14th September

Today three of us completed our storyboards, so we decided to help Sam with his as he was struggling to come up with ideas.
We will probably finish his by th end of the next lesson.

Planning. Friday 11th September

Today we carried on with our storyboards getting new ideas along the way.
After speaking to the teacher we found out that we may have to wait a while as other people are using the video camera.

Planning. Thursday 10th September

Today me and the group started making our storyboards towards our video productions.
After making one storyboard for one vidoe production then finding out we had to do one each, we decided to giveDeclan the storyboard and we made different ones each but Dclan had to help us.
Declan's storyboard was the original production we were going for with the criminal investigator and the criminal in an interview.
Sam's storyboard was about a criminal being freed from prison.
Adam's storyboard was about a comedian's job interview and i decided to go with a doctor's appointment for my storyboard.

Research/Planning. Tuesday 8th September

I found some great films and charcters for my research for my video. These films consisted of:

1. The shawshank redemption.


2. The Godfather.


3. Pulp Fiction.


4. Goodfellas.


5. The dark Knight.

I chose these films as they are all good crime films whoch will come in handy with my production as i have decided to makea short video about an interview between a police investigaor and a crime suspect.

I chose The shawshank redemption as it has a great scene in it where the criminal gets interviewed. I chose The Godfather as it is an all round great crime film. I chose Pulp fiction for its supense and the same with Goodfellas. My favourite choice was the Dark Knight as this was a very inspiring film and it had a great scene between batman and the joker where he interviews him which provided me with the best ideas.

The characters that i researched for the roles in my video were split into two. One into the police investigators and the other into the criminal (which had to be part psychotic).

The characters I researched for role as police investigator were:

• Batman.
• Heratio Cane (from CSI Miami)
• Gi. Joe
• Judge Dredd

The characters I researched for the role as the criminal were:

• Joker.
• Hyde
• Jack the Ripper
• Frankenstein
• The Green Goblin.

Planning for Preliminary task Monday 7th September

Today me and my group sat down and discussed what our preliminary videos were going to be as we had to do one each to prove that we could all use the video camera.
We discussed topics such as:

• Where to shoot our video.
• What characters we were going to use.
• What our videos were going to be based on.
• What days we were going to use to shoot our video.
• Research - to help us create our videos.

We wrote a list of things to research and used it as a homework for tommorow.

Media production-introduction 2009

First of all i have decided to choose the vide section in my logbook.
I have decided to work with a group to do the task.
This group cosists of me, Adam White, Sam Highton and Declan Sanders.

There are two tasks within the video section; the first one being the preliminary task and the second one being the main task.
The preliminary task we have been given is to do a small tw minute video which contains two characters and one of them has to walk to a seat and sit down to have a conversation with the other.
The main task tells us to do an introduction to a film we must create and finish it with ending credits.
I began today with creating a list of different fictional films and characters which may suit our productions.


In order to use the blogger address and site i had to get help from a friend to show me how.
